Magnaflux EV6000 Operating Instructions
1. Connect the lamp to the power supply.
2. Connect the power supply to line power.
3. Press the power button on the rear of the lamp housing to turn on the UV LEDs.
4. The lamp will immediately be at full intensity and will stabilize within 5 minutes.
5. To turn off, press the power button on the rear of the lamp housing.
NOTE: The EV6000 is designed for continuous use; operating the lamp only when required will increase the lifespan of the UV LEDs.

MAINTENANCE
• Check UV-A intensity at regular intervals using a calibrated UV-A Meter (320-400 nm range)
• UV-A intensity readings should be taken with the lamp positioned 15 in / 38 cm from the lamp filter to the face of the sensor
• Use mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the lamp housing as needed
• Do not spray lamp or power supply or immerse any part in liquid

Frequently Asked Questions: Magnaflux EV6000 LED UV Lamp

Q: Does the Magnaflux EV6000 meet aerospace and ASTM standards?
A: Yes. The EV6000 is fully compliant with the most rigorous NDT specifications, including ASTM E3022, RRES 90061, and AITM6-1001. It is designed for high-sensitivity inspections using Fluorescent Magnetic Particles or Liquid Penetrants, providing a beam that is uniform with no "hot spots" to ensure reliable indication detection.

Q: What is the beam intensity and coverage area of the EV6000?
A: The EV6000 provides a massive 9-inch circular beam at 15 inches (38 cm). It delivers a minimum intensity of 5,000 µW/cm² at that distance, while the custom-designed optics ensure the visible light emission is kept below 1 foot-candle. This wide, even coverage makes it significantly more efficient than older mercury-vapor lamps for inspecting large components.

Q: How do I verify the UV intensity of my lamp for compliance?
A: To satisfy audit requirements, you must regularly monitor the UV-A output and visible light leakage of your lamp. We recommend using a calibrated UV-A Digital Light Meter to ensure the lamp is performing within the 365nm range and maintaining the intensity required by your specific SOP.

Q: Can the EV6000 be used for both Fluorescent MPI and LPI?
A: Absolutely. It is the industry standard for both methods. For Magnetic Particle Inspection, it pairs perfectly with the Magnaflux Y-2 Yoke. For Liquid Penetrant testing, it provides the necessary excitation for Zyglo Fluorescent Penetrants, making the smallest surface-breaking defects glow brilliantly.

Q: Does the EV6000 require a warm-up period?
A: No. One of the primary advantages of LED technology is that the EV6000 features instant-on/off capability. Unlike traditional lamps that require a 10–15 minute warm-up or cool-down cycle, the EV6000 reaches full intensity immediately, saving time in high-volume inspection environments.
