Magnaflux Wet Method Non-Fluorescent Magnetic Particles

Primary Uses

Wet Method Non-Fluorescent Magnetic Particles are highly-sensitive water-based magnetic particle fluids used for non-fluorescent (visible) wet method magnetic particle testing to locate fine and medium discontinuities on finished parts.

Specific Applications

They are ideal for detecting fine and medium discontinuities, testing difficult to reach areas, field testing, in-service inspections, light surfaces, machined parts, and spot inspections.

Types of Defects Detected

These particles can identify various defect types including:

  • Fatigue cracks
  • Grinding cracks
  • Inclusions
  • Laps
  • Quenching cracks
  • Seams
  • Shrink cracks
  • Tears
  • Welding defects

Key Advantages

  • They provide visible indications that can be seen under normal white light (unlike fluorescent particles that require UV light)
  • They offer strong contrast on metal surfaces during inspection
  • They're particularly useful for field testing and in-service inspections where UV lighting may not be practical
  • They provide clear, strong indications due to the heavy buildup of the highly magnetic particles

The wet method involves suspending the magnetic particles in a liquid carrier, which allows for better coverage and detection of smaller defects compared to dry method testing. This makes them especially valuable for inspecting critical components in aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, and other industries where safety and reliability are paramount.

Primary Products

1. MV-740 (Water-Based)

A highly-sensitive water-based magnetic particle fluid for non-fluorescent (visible) wet method magnetic particle testing to locate fine and medium discontinuities on finished parts. MV-740 provides clear, strong indications due to the heavy buildup of the highly magnetic particles.

2. 7HF (Oil-Based)

A highly-sensitive oil-based magnetic particle suspension aerosol for nonfluorescent wet mag particle testing to find fine and medium discontinuities. This product comes in aerosol form for convenient field applications.

3. 7C Black Non-Fluorescent Particles

A highly-sensitive non-fluorescent, colored magnetic particle powder for wet magnetic particle testing on finished and in-process parts.  7C can be mixed in either an oil bath or water bath carrier.
