Selecting the Right Conductor Size: For best results, choose a conductor diameter that is approximately 10% of the bore diameter of the part being inspected — this ensures adequate current density and uniform circular magnetization. If the conductor is too small relative to the bore, the magnetic field at the inner wall will be weak and fine longitudinal defects may be missed. For parts with varying bore diameters, use the smallest conductor that safely fits to maximize field strength at the inner surface.
